Leighton Denny Crystal Nail File.

For a lot of men, nail care consists of biting them off. Some men, may even go as far as using nail clippers.
However, your hands say a lot about you and personally, in my line of work my hands are constantly on show, either typing at my desk or occasionally giving a presentation.
For me, neat and tidy nails are just as important as having clear, fresh looking skin.
I've previously paid a lot of money in spa's for MAN-icures before but it's actually the one spa treatment I can do quite well myself at home.
There is one tool however, that makes this very easy and that's the Leighton Denny Crystal Nail File.
It's scooped a tonne of awards in all the beauty magazines and has been nicknamed "The Rolls Royce" of nail files.
It comes in two sizes, regular (£12) which comes with an aluminium case for travel and large (£15), which is the same size as most salon nail files.
This may sound expensive for a nail file, considering you can pick up a pack of 5 in Boots for £2.
However, it works out quite economical considering the surface of the file comes with a life-time guarantee (obviously if you drop it and it smashes, they won't replace it).
A quick rinse under the tap and it's as good as new!
So besides it lasting potentially forever, what else it so great about it? Well, conventional nail files are usually made from metal or card with sand glued on.
The problem with these types of file, is they are very coarse and can pull and tear the nail. Leaving the multiple layers of the nail open and prone to splitting. So you have to be careful which direction you file your nails, which can be difficult unless your ambidextrous!
The Crystal nail file however is super smooth, you can file in any direction you wish. Personally I use a sawing motion, which would destroy the nail if I was using a standard file.
It turns the nail in to a very fine dust and seals all the layers of the nail together. Preventing moisture lose, which in turn will prevent splitting!
Some people pay a lot of money for different treatments to keep their nails healthy, when just changing their nail file could be enough?
The file shown is the large, although I've had it that long the 'Leighton Denny' logo has come off!
I plan to buy other products from Leighton's range, including Remove & Rectify cuticle remover and Slick Tips cuticle oil, so look forward to more reviews coming soon!
Maybe I'll do a full step-by-step MAN-icure?
Pampered Prince.

    1. Thanks for reading and commenting.
Get it! You'll never need to buy another file (unless you smash it of course!)

  2. I think this is a great idea, I've heard of crystal files before but not clapped eyes on one! I don't think the price is that bad, as you say it potentially lasts forever unless you happen to smash it, I actually thought it would have been pricier. You've sold it to me! x

    1. Good question! I've had mine that long I can't remember. I think I might have been MustHave but not sure. I know Boots stock them now though.

  5. I LOVE this nail file, I would always have used a sawing motion with an emery board...I know... but this means I am doing next to no damage. I love that it lasts so long as well!

  6. Loved your review, and actually it's first time I see man review a glass nail file(liked your approach), because mostly you see female bloggers testing them. You may check it on nattyngeorge on blogspot or lipglossiping.com
