Dr.Jart+ BB Creams seemed to come out of nowhere and hit 'cult beauty' status almost immediately. At least amongst the blogger community. When that happens, you know the product must be good. I wanted to see just how good for myself and wanted to try one of the Dr.Jart+ BB Creams for ages. I almost bought it a while back, but the Sanctuary BB Cream caught my eye in Boots instead.
Thankfully I was very lucky to win a Dr.Jart+ Water Fuse BB Cream in Nic's (for writes Strawberry Blonde Beauty) giveaway. Out of the 4 Dr.Jart+ BB Creams, the Water Fuse one is definitely the one most suitable for my skin. As it's oil-free and has 'water holding system' to feed the skin water, keeping it hydrated.
Initially I thought this was going to be too pale for me. Which is one of the reasons I chose the Sanctuary BB Cream over this one. When you first apply it, it does look a little off in colour. It appeared a little ashy on me, but after a few seconds of rubbing it in to the skin, it changes and adapts rather well to my skin tone.
It claims to have an 'Advanced Water Bead Technology'. Usually when I read things like this on packaging, I think it's a gimmick, but sure enough as you're rubbing it in, you notice the cream change from rather a thick heavy cream, to something much more fluid in texture. I'm guessing as the 'water beads' are popping on the skin maybe? (You don't actually feel any beads though, it's completely smooth in texture).
I like how it has an SPF 25, so it beats the Sanctuary BB Cream on that, as that only had an SPF 15. I also like how you don't need to choose a colour and it adapts to your skin, it takes the guess work out of choosing the right shade.
The finish is really natural looking, not too dewy, not too matte, which I like. Even though I have an oily T-zone, I don't like looking too matte.
It also conceals rather well too. Most days I just use this and some bronzer to fake a tanned appearance but I only follow up with a concealer if I get a spot.
The downside, which may put some of my readers off, is it contains quite a few different silicones and parabens. It hasn't been an issue for me. I haven't broken out from it or had any adverse reactions but if you're sensitive to those ingredients OR just choose to avoid them, then this probably isn't for you.
It does contains alcohol denat, an ingredient I generally suffer irritation with. Thankfully though it's low enough down the ingredients list that it didn't cause me any issues.
Overall I really like it and would happily use it again. I can definitely see why it's so popular. I'm not sure if it's the best BB Cream I've used, but it's certainly top 3!
Available from Boots and retails at £18 for a 50ml tube.

I like this! It's given you a nice glow -- that's unusual for a BB cream, I find they often make people look strangely gray/pale.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I like it too. It goes on a little grey but adapts quite well :)
DeleteI've been debating between this and Dior Hydra Life one. Now that I read your review about Sanctuary BB cream, I'm inclined towards that. I'll be trying all of them at Boots next time I'm there. One of them should be good for my dry dark skin.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading. I really like the Sanctuary one. They do a darker shade also :)
DeleteI have a tube of this in my cupboard but I can't seem to stop using my Estee Lauder BB cream, I like the natural look of this on your face.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I've had my eye on the Estée Lauder one too :)
DeleteI have the Dr Jart+ regenerating BB Cream - I think it probably offers better coverage but not quite as hydrating :D
ReplyDeleteYou can easily achieve a higher coverage with this one too. Being a guy & rather paranoid about it 'showing' on the skin + having an oilies t-zone I only use a small amount. For heavier coverage it can be layered quite easily :) x
DeleteGlad it worked for you! I think you look great with it on :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the mention too lovely, Nic xx
Thanks Nic and you're welcome. I'm so chuffed I won your giveaway :) x
DeleteI'm reaching the end of my Garnier bb cream and have been considering giving this a go or the regenerating one. There's just so many too choose from these days!
ReplyDeleteThere really are loads to choose from. I wasn't keen on the Garnier one to be honest. Definitely worth trying a Dr Jart BB cream :)
DeleteExcellent review and it looks like it gives a nice fresh glow to the skin. Glad it is oil free as I can find some BB creams and tinted moisturisers a bit too oily for my skin :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Scott. Definitely give this a try then, it is really natural looking :)
DeleteGreat review. I unfortunately didn't get on with this which was a shame but it makes you skin look really fresh and glowing. x
ReplyDeleteThanks Alice. Shame it didn't work out for you. Was it the Water Fuse one you tried or one of the other Dr Jarts? x
DeleteJust saying Hi enjoyed reading but I don't get the BB craze, I'm sorry I'm a bad blogger ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah, glad you liked it. I think BB creams are a bit of a love or hate thing amongst most people. I personally love them & found a few that I really like. I know a lot of people who just don't get on with them though. I guess it's all about skin type / skin tone as to whether they're suitable or not :)
DeleteVery intrigued by this one!
