If you've been following closely, you'll know I've been experimenting a lot with chemical exfoliators lately. That doesn't mean I've turned my back on mechanical exfoliators though. Once a week (not the same day as a chemical treatment obviously) I still enjoy a good polish, to slough away any remaining dull skin cells and give the skin that glowing 'glass-like' appearance.
One that I am LOVING at the moment is the Elemis Energising Skin Scrub For Men. I'll be truthful, when it comes to scrubs etc, the products designed for men don't usually float my boat, they're generally a little abrasive for my liking. The grain is often ground shell or nuts, usually far too big and quite 'scratchy'. So I tend to stick to exfoliators from standard skincare ranges that contain grains such as jojoba beads, which are much gentler on the skin.
The grain in Elemis Energising Skin Scrub is Silica, which is a form of really fine sand. Other ingredients include Shea Butter, Bilberry and Meadowsweet, Rosemary and Hops.
What I love about the Elemis Energising Skin Scrub is it's cream consistency and the grain is so fine, it's not visible to the eye, but you can definitely feel it giving a thorough exfoliation as you massage it around the face.
I use this every Saturday morning, prior to shaving and then follow up with the Elemis Post Shave Recovery Mask. It's become a bit of a Saturday morning ritual and ensures my skin looks great for weekend!
My only issue with this product is the name. Now I'm not sure about you, but I have a tendency to make assumptions about a product before I use it, based on the name. For example if a product has the word 'hydrating' in it's title, then I expect the product to provide some form of hydration.
With the word 'Energising', I was expecting quite an energising fragrance to it. Something to get you and your skin going in the morning. Also with the word 'Scrub' I was expecting it to be quite an abrasive scrub.
In contrast there isn't really any fragrance to the product, which was a little disappointing. However instead of a harsh scrub, it's a wonderfully effective, yet gentle, 'skin polish'.
Of course I am being a bit picky about the name, because it is actually a really great product. Definitely the best 'For Men' exfoliator I've tried and one I'm more than happy to recommend to others. If they just added some energising essential oils then it would be perfect!
Retailing at £26.50 for a 75ml tube.

This sounds like a really nice present for my OH! Shame about the slight false advertising though :( xx

Thanks Gemma, it's not really false advertising as such, they don't state it has an 'energising scent', I took it to mean that from the name and felt the product would have been even better had there been an energising scent to it :)
