Hydraluron - Moisture Booster Serum

If there's ever an example of buying a product, based on the sheer passion of another blogger, for me it's Hydraluron. I've wanted to try it ever since Caroline Hirons put it in her Hall of Fame after only 3 days use!!

The reason Hydraluron spoke to me as something I needed in my regime, other than Caroline's extremely high praise, was the promise of increasing your skins own hydration levels, using hyaluronic acid, suitable for ALL skin types.
Even someone like me with quite oily skin can be lacking in hydration. Your skin can't produce water, it can however produce oil, so a dehydrated oily skin, is just going to produce more oil. Which in turn can lead to an increase in blocked pores, spots etc.
In drier skins dehydration can lead to the appearance of premature ageing, such as fine lines and sallowness etc.
A sign your skin could be dehydrated is if you find it absorbs products very quickly and still feels dry or you find your foundation / BB cream has disappeared towards the afternoon, a sign your skin has absorbed it.

Firstly, what is hyaluronic acid? Hyaluronic acid is a substance found naturally in our skin, that has the ability to hold 1,000 times its own weight in water and hold it within the epidermal layer of our skin. We have it in abundance as children but sadly, our ability to produce it decreases with age.

Hydraluron, created by Indeed Laboratories, use two active ingredients, a low molecular hyaluronic acid to reach the deeper layers of the epidermis and a Red Marine Algae to increase cell turnover and improve firmness, elasticity and smoothness to reduce fine lines.
It comes in a clear gel formulation which you apply after cleansing and before any other serums, oils, moisturisers in your regime.

I noticed a change to my skin after the first time I used Hydraluron. That being how balanced my skin was. I still had a slightly oily T-zone, but much less than before and overall more balanced.
I've been using this for 5 weeks now, mostly mornings but sometimes evenings too. I love how lightweight it is, it isn't sticky and it doesn't prevent me from using any other oils or moisturisers, it slots in easily to any skincare regime.
My skin continues to be more balanced and much more hydrated (even through the party season with late nights and cocktails). I've also noticed my skin is much smoother and acne-free, although I do feel this is also down to the glycolic acid treatments I've been using, but this has certainly contributed. I even awarded it my Best Serum of 2012.

I'd most definitely buy it again. In fact, I couldn't imagine not have this in my regime now. My only negative, which is very minor, is I'd prefer a pump dispenser, preferably with a measure dose. Although I love the design and the informative box it comes in, I find it too easy to squeeze too much out the tube. A pump dispenser would cure this.

I would recommend this to anyone and everyone. I think most people would benefit from having some extra hydration in their skincare regime. I can't think of anyone who this would not be suitable for (apart from children who already have enough hyaluronic acid and don't need it).

Available from Boots. Retailing at £24.99 for a 30ml tube (guess what I'm spending my Advantage points on).

  2. This is definitely on my hit list. I'm just trying to get a few other serums out of the way first. I haven't read a bad review yet and my skin definitely fits into the dehydrated category.

    1. Cool, I'm glad it has helped you too. I think so many oily skins shy away from hydrating products but this proves they help! x

  8. This is a great review and funny that I've got this product post scheduled within the next few days. We both seem to have had incredibly similar experiences which makes me certain I've tested it out properly! As always, loving the PP Blog, particularly now I have it forcably pumped into my phone and desktop.
