You've heard of shave gels, shave foams and shave creams, but a shave milk? That's a new one even for me. Created by Michael Kilm, Polish-born Australian olympic swimmer, Milk is a range of skincare products for men.
The ethos behind the range, to create simple and effective products that reduce time in the bathroom, using natural and marine based ingredients where possible which are reasonably priced.
The range consists of a Face Wash + Scrub, Scrub + Cleanse Wipes, Shave Milk, Face Moisturiser + Sunscreen SPF 15, Dry Touch Sunscreen SPF 30 and a Body Wash.
I was sent the Moisturising Shave Milk to test out. Described as "a unique formulation, designed to give you the ultimate shaving experience. Specially formulated with menthol to cool the skin, coconut oil to moisturise and smooth and a peppermint gum aroma that will leave your skin feeling revitalised and refreshed. Suitable for all skin types".
Texture wise, it's similar to a runny shave cream. Initially I thought I'd just end up needing more of it than a standard shave cream but I didn't. It lathers up well on the skin and smells great. It's minty, so great for first thing in the morning to awaken the senses, but the with addition of geranium oil, it's not that sickly mint smell. It gives a really close and comfortable shave (I use my Philips AquaTouch) and as promised, is very cooling on the skin.
It's a great shaving product, which I've really enjoyed using and would happily repurchase & recommend to others. Especially those who like shave creams but want the cooling effect to soothe razor burn.
Retailing at £11.95 for 150ml bottle, it's certainly not the cheapest shaving product on the market but I've been using this for 4 weeks and I'm less than half way through the bottle.
I haven't got any other 'shave milks' to compare it against but it performs better than some similar priced 'shave creams' I've used.
This is available from Boots, along with the other products in the Milk skincare range.

This sounds nice I will pick some up for my hubby. x
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading. I hope hubby likes it :)
DeleteLike the sound of this. I tend to use Men's shaving gels/creams as they are cheaper than lady ones. I think my other half could do with it as well, I'm trying to get him to switch as he gets sensitive skin.
ReplyDeleteReally? I'm surprised they are cheaper. I find a lot of men's products more expensive than women's. For the sample product usually too!
DeleteYou'll have to let me know how you / the other half get on with it :)
really interesting:)
ReplyDeleteThanks Dan :)
DeleteI really like the sound of this for myself, I often find lady shaving products are boring and either come in the form of a gel or a foam which dry my skin out so I'll definately be giving this a try. Great post.
ReplyDeleteThanks Daniella. Yes I agree, I would recommend a men's shaving product over the SLS laden foams & gels. Much more nourishing!
