Super Facialist by Una Brennan - Pore Purifying Clay Mask

As promised in my '3 Acids for Flawless Skin' post, I'm back to review the Pore Purifying Clay Mask from the Super Facialist by Una Brennan range. This is the fourth product from the range I have tried and although I didn't purchase this at the same time as the other products, the price and quality of the range impressed me enough to send me back to Boots pretty quickly to buy it.

You may remember from my original Super Facialist review of the Purifying Cleansing Wash, my main reason for exploring the range was my need for salicylic acid in my daily routine, to clear some blocked pores I had at the time. Thankfully the products worked wonders for me. So much so that I no longer need salicylic acid in my daily routine, however to maintain the results, I still wanted it as part of my weekly regime. That's where the Pore Purifying Clay Mask comes in!

The Pore Purifying Clay Mask is Kaolin clay based mask that contains salicylic acid to unclog pores, as well as a whole bunch of other goodies for your skin. Including Shea Butter and Avocado oil for hydrating the skin and Acacia Honey, Ylang Ylang, Horsetail Extract, Watercress Extract and Nettle Extract to balance and purify the skin.

It's a lovely smooth mask, which feels very nourishing on the skin. Fragrance wise, the Ylang Ylang really punches through the rest of the ingredients to me. It's one of those masks which are great for pointing out areas of the face that are maybe lacking in hydration, as after the 5 minutes are up, certain areas of the face have absorbed more of the mask than others.

It's worth mentioning though, it feels quite strong on the skin, It's definitely quite a stimulating mask. If you have sensitive skin, this may not be suitable for you. I would recommend (as always) performing a patch test first and maybe limit the time on the skin for the first use. Salicylic acid appears about half way up the list of ingredients, so is roughly going to between 5-8% (general rule of thumb), which is actually a high percentage for salicylic acid content and you can definitely feel it working on the skin!

As with all the Super Facialist range I have tried so far, this is AMAZING value for money. It comes in a massive 125ml tube and retails at £8.99. I've been using this once a week for about the last 2 months and I've still got over half a tube left!!

It's definitely a mask I've seen results from. Not only has it helped to keep my pores clear but on the odd occasion I have had a spot (feel so weird writing 'odd occasion' and 'spot' in the same sentence), this has helped clear it up, almost over night!
What I like most though is how it manages to balance the skin, keep it hydrated, while giving a deep and thorough cleanse. Often masks like this tend to leave the skin feeling a little dry.

Just like the other products from the Super Facialist range I've tried, for the results, the quality of the products and the value for money, I cannot fault this product. At all.
I would definitely repurchase and recommend to others. Although people with sensitive skin would need to be cautious.

Available from Boots.

    1. LOL Alice, I do feel guilty (a little) for all the things I get you to buy ;)
I really like it and no you can't have too many masks! I'm using 3 different masks a week at the moment, this one, the Pai mask and the Elemis post shave recovery (which is the same as the lavender repair one). All have their own functions and work well together :) x
