You may have read my original post on Bravura London acid peels, where I'd used the 10% Salicylic Acid peel and got great results. If you're not aware, Salicylic Acid is classed as BHA (Beta-Hydroxy Acid), which acts very similar to AHA's to dissolve the glue (keratin) that holds the dead skin cells together. Salicylic acid is more beneficial for people with blemished skin and blocked pores, because it's able to penetrate the pore and dissolve the oil (sebum) too. Great news for blackhead suffers!
Sadly the EU hates people with blackheads and put a legislation in place to stop anyone using more than 2% salicylic acid in their products. I jest of course. About the EU hating people with blackheads that is. The legislation bit is real.
Therefore Bravura London had to reformulate their salicylic acid peel to now only include 2%. It's not too disheartening though. The lower percentage now means that you can safely use this peel daily instead of the 10% weekly peel and the results are the same. Think of this as a non-abrasive chemical exfoliant, rather than a peel, which I know to some of you may still sound a little scary. It's really isn't.
They recommend starting with a couple of minutes and building your way up. The same as their other peels. They also recommend that once you've achieved the results you want, that you can drop down to 2-3 times a week to maintain them.
You may ask, what's the benefit of using a 2% salicylic acid peel, when you could use a face wash or mask with 2% salicylic acid in? Well, this is a dedicated salicylic acid peel, with it's only purpose of keeping the pores clear. Face washes, masks etc with 2% salicylic acid in are also going to have other ingredients which could dilute and interfere with the efficacy of the salicylic acid.
This would be great for someone with acneic skin, who need to clear pores, without using anything too harsh that's going to aggravate the condition any further. The fact it can be used daily is a bonus too!
Retailing at £9.59 for 30ml and available from Bravura London.
